Ranging from the everyday routine of pioneer membership and living conditions in a high-rise tower block to the intricacies of the East German political system, the museum reveals the realities of life under the dictatorship including consumption and scarcity, the Berlin Wall and the Stasi, full-employment and school life, the ubiquitous Trabi and Interflug, the planned economy and the parlous state of the environment, as well as military and relations with the Eastern-bloc 'brother states'.

After the tour you will be free to spend as much more time as you like in the museum.

The museum can be accessed by wheelchair users via a lift from the Radisson Blue Hotel Berlin. The only part of the museum that is not accessible is the Trabi simulator. Please advise at time of booking if wheelchair assistance is required.

Edo was our guide for this 1hr tour and what a fabulous guide he was! The museum is small and compact but he made every item on show come alive by relating it to real stories and events. 2 adults/2 teenagers totally enthralled! We loved every part of this tour and I would definitely recommend it!
