Vous embarquerez à bord de votre bateau dans le quartier de Southbank, à Brisbane et vous laisserez la ville s'éloigner derrière vous à bord d'une croisière reposante jusqu'au Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Profitez des commentaires instructifs de la part de votre capitaine pendant que vous glissez le long des quais de Brisbane, en passant de l'agitation des gratte-ciel de la ville à la verdure des banlieues avec ses demeures au pied du fleuve. Après environ une heure, vous arriverez à Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, où vous aurez du temps libre pour explorer le sanctuaire pendant trois heures.
Lone Pine est le plus grand sanctuaire de koalas au monde, hébergeant plus de 130 petits ours velus. Vous pourrez caresser un koala (à vos frais), prendre des photos avec ces adorables marsupiaux et éventuellement assister à une discussion instructive avec les gardiens de koala.
Vous pouvez également nourrir les kangourous et les wallabies ; plus de 100 d'entre eux vivent dans une réserve de 2 hectares à Lone Pine. Sinon, dirigez-vous au pavillon des ornithorynques où vous aurez la possibilité de voir ces timides animaux originaires d'Australie.
En plus d'héberger des koalas et des kangourous, Lone Pine accueille un spectacle de chiens de berger où vous découvrirez le travail acharné des chiens rassemblant un troupeau de moutons et répondant aux sifflets et aux signaux de la main de leur maître. Vous pouvez admirer les hiboux, les cerfs-volants et les aigles de mer voler au-dessus de vous, lors du spectacle des oiseaux de proie, ou bien, émerveillez-vous face aux couleurs arc-en-ciel des loriquets sauvages qui accourent en volant deux fois par jour pour être alimentés. D'autres espèces d'oiseaux et une population d'Eastern Water Dragons, un lézard pouvant mesurer jusqu'à 90 cm de long, apprécient de venir au luxuriant parc naturel de Lone Pine.
Dès qu'un petit creux se fera ressentir en cours de journée, vous pourrez acheter vos repas sur le bateau de croisière ou aux deux cafétérias de Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (à vos frais). Après 3 heures à Lone Pine, vous remonterez à bord de votre bateau pour rentrer aux Southbank de Brisbane, où s'achèvera votre excursion.

The crew were great. Enough time to get a picture and see the rest of the sanctuary. Hand feed kangaroos, Emu's. A good day
Truly enjoyed our time. Loved the experience and seeing so many animals exclusive to Australia in one place. Definitely recommend the river cruise coupled with entry. Would highly recommend!
Both river cruice and the sanctuary was very nice, and we can reccomend it without any problem. It’s a fantastic way to get to know the river and it’s surroundings, and also to get an impression of australian fauna.
We enjoyed our cruise up the Brisbane River with the stop at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Oh my--the koalas! Beautiful koalas and the opportunity to both pet and hold a koala. One of the few places where holding a koala is possible. I was impressed with the care the keepers took with the koalas, giving specific instructions on how to hold the sweet marsupial. They also have very strict time limits on how long a koala can be passed from one tourist to the next, and if a koala doesn't want to do it, there is no forcing. I was afraid it wasn't humane, but came away satisfied that the koalas trust their keepers, and the keepers are very attentive to the needs of the koalas. We had been to Australia Zoo the day before, so generally we weren't impressed with Lone Pine, in comparison. They had lots of kangaroos in what seemed like a small area. Loved seeing the platypus! First time I had ever seen one! Both tour and time at Lone Pine were enjoyable.
What a wonderful experience. We literally go off our Qantas Dreamliner, dropped off bags and was on the river cruise boat within hours. This was such a relaxing experience and a great way to get some good Vit D to help us flip our day. Our captain was charming and informative. The coffee was amazing! Then the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was beautiful. We started with eating our first Aussie meal of Fish and Chips inside the park. Super good for zoo food. Then strolled around to see gorgeous Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, Kangaroos and Emus. Loved the Bird and the Sheep Dog show, which was the highlights for us. So, if you are traveling and want to "fix your clock", this excursion is a good one.
Boat ride down the river was lovely...with just the right amount of narration ( if you get my drift)
The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is a fabulous place to experience. One part of the experience that is a must is to pay for the opportunity to take a photo while holding a Koala!! My guy, Hamlet, was so soft and sweet and smelled like Eucalyptus. The sanctuary houses over 130 Koalas and lots of other indigenous animals. It was a great Australia experience that is a must if staying in the Brisbane area. The river trip was really nice, too, with a great tour along the way.
We really enjoyed this tour, despite the 36 degree temperatures and high humidity. Luckily, there was plenty of shade at the sanctuary. The commentary on the boat was really good: informative and amusing at the same time. The sanctuary itself has more than just koalas, although there were about 130 koalas there! Great information, some good shows, including a raptor flying show and a sheepdog demo. Wonderful for children, although we don't have any.I've given this 4 stars only because I'm gluten-intolerant and there was very little available for me. My lunch consisted of two bags of crisps (chips) and a GF biscuit. I discussed this with the staff and they told me that they don't get much demand for GF food, so they just don't find it worthwhile catering for special diets at all. So if you have any particular dietary requirements, you might want to pack a picnic lunch.
