Au départ d'Édimbourg, votre visite vous emmène vers le sud, en traversant la frontière écossaise vers l'Angleterre. En embrassant la côte, votre première escale de la journée est Holy Island, une île magnifique accessible uniquement à marée basse. La chaussée qui mène à Holy Island conduit au reposant village de Lindesfarne, où vous pourrez admirer les vues fantastiques de Lindesfarne Castle. Prenez le temps de découvrir le château et le prieuré, et vous aurez la chance de goûter quelques-uns des célèbres hydromels brassés par les moines résidents de l'île (à vos frais).

Nous retournons sur le continent vers le marché de la ville d'Alnwick. Là, vous aurez également l'opportunité de découvrir la ville et de visiter Alnwick Castle (à vos frais), connu sous le nom de « Windsor du nord », qui abrite la famille Percy et apparaît aussi dans les films de Harry Potter et dans la série télé Downton Abbey. Vous pouvez également choisir de visiter les jardins d'Alnwick, célèbres pour leur magnifique Grand Cascade Fountain et leurs jardins empoisonnés, puis dirigez-vous vers le centre-ville pour le déjeuner (à vos frais).

Nous partons ensuite pour le voyage de retour à Édimbourg, avec une pause à Flodden Field (si le temps le permet), le champ de bataille préservé où les Anglais vainquirent les Écossais en 1513, entrainant la mort du roi James IV d'Écosse. Nous revenons ensuite à Édimbourg, où cette visite de 9 heures se termine.

David W. took us on an amazing tour to the Holy Island and Alnwick Castle! He was friendly, informative, lively, and funny. The Holy Island is a must see, we were very lucky to have a beautiful sunny day, and we could have stayed there all day! We then headed to Alnwick Castlet, David made sure we all got our tour group discount and then set us free to do what we liked. We went into the town to grab some lunch and walk around there for a bit, then back to the castle. The grounds are fantastic, we found so many different little paths that opened up to views of the castle. This tour is full of incredible history and magical scenery. We would highly recommend it and David W. as your guide.

We had a fantastic day tour through Timberbush Tours with our driver/guide Andrew T. Andrew took us to Holy Island and Alnwick Castle along with a stop at Hirsel Estate on the way back to Edinburgh. He was an excellent guide full of interesting facts along the way as well as humor and even provided some Borders music for us to listen to. The trip was well worth the money spent and we even got discounted tickets at Alnwick courtesy of Timberbush. It was well planned and there was plenty of time at all of the sites we stopped at. I would highly recommend Timberbush Tours and Andrew T to others, and would definitely book another tour through them in the future.

Great tour but I felt super rushed. Alnwick castle was amazing but sooo crowded it made it fairly difficult to move through. Wish we had been able to spend more time on Holy Island but is was so brief.

Great tour!! Tour guide Hamish provided a lot of interesting information all through the day... historical, anecdotal, political, biological, geological... so much I learned on that day : The guide was very enthusiast and cheered the day with a fun range of traditional and modern musics and songs. The holy Island was beautiful and the various stops at little villages was just delightfull! We also had some time to stop by the beach to enjoy the incredible sky by Bamburgh Castle. Alnwick Castle was interesting and I would recommend, however, I might suggest its visit more if you are travelling with kids. The herbalist in me may decide to go visit the gardens separate ticket, the schedule won't allow you to do both sould I be to go again. Very friendly staff otherwise, I would rebook other tours with them : Thank you for this lovely day!

We booked the trip to see Holy Island, which was amazing. We saw the ruins of the old abbey, which was destroyed by the Vikings. You can only access the island during low tide, but you can see where the tide comes in. Alnwick Castle was used in parts of Downton Abbey and they were giving lessons on how to ride a broom Harry Potter style, which was fun to watch. Beautiful scenery!
