Booked this for 4 people paying roughly 30 each Child half price Picked up at Hotel by a 4x4 car, the driver had no idea who he was picking up and only our hotel room number. Once we confirmed it was for us we jumped in the back of the 4x4. The seats were 2 rows of benches seating 4 people each, no seatbelts so we bounced around quite a lot. On arrived we were herded into an area that had a stage in the middle, could see people queuing for food and sat on mats on the floor facing the stage. After about 15 minutes of waiting. Mohammed our designated guide came to say hello and offer us head scarfs. We were informed of a cost but no money taken then. We paid later and they were 3 each Mohammed fitted the scarfs on us all. We were then ushered into the same style 4x4 car and drove at a crazy speed through the desert to the Bedouin camp. We were bouncing around in the back and the driver appear to be in a major rush. We arrived at the camp, were helped out of the 4x4 where the driver just drove off an left us. We had no idea what to do next, no guide and could see other tours on camel rides and some huts an bizarrely something looking like a high wire adventure course, not sure this is typical of all genuine Bedouin villages. We were taken in a hut/ tent where we were served black tea, then herded to the camel rides, then to the flat bread making, then the shop selling trinkets. Most of these activities had a 15-20 minute wait in between. It felt very unorganised and was quite poor. We witnessed a man hitting a camel with a large stick repeatedly and while there was no hard sell on the trinkets, it was quite dull. After about 2 hours we were driven at high speed by the same crazy driver back to the main base. We queued up for our Bedouin BBQ that consisted of 2 small overcooked Koti kebab, some rice and Luke warm pasta. I got a small plastic cup of Pepsi too. It was very disappoint and not what we were led to believe. We waited a further hour for the entertainment to start but most people were getting restless and cold. Mohammed made an announcement asking if anyone wanted to leave early, about 30 people took him up on it. While waiting for our car, we were offered the opportunity to look at the animals. This really topped off the day... There was the saddest looking monkey in a small cage, a tortoise that had limited space, snakes and a bearded dragon in small tanks. My family and I came out of that feeling sick for the animals...... Not good. To top it all off, the only thing we really wanted to see was a sunset over the desert and the night sky and all the stars..... Neither of these things happened. Overall, this has the opportunity to be a great experience, it has all the components but something is missing in the delivery and organisation. I am no animal rights campaigner but what we saw was unacceptable.
