A propos de cette activités

Votre guide vous prendra en charge dans la matinée au terminal des bateaux de croisière du Havre et, pendant votre trajet entre les sites, vous pourrez repérer le lieu où vous vous trouvez en temps réel sur les cartes affichées par le système GPS unique embarqué. Au cours du trajet, de petits films vous commenteront les sites majeurs devant lesquels vous passerez. Le guide anglophone partagera également avec vous des anecdotes, des histoires de vétérans, et bien plus encore.

Lorsque vous arriverez sur chaque site, le guide vous montrera les alentours, vous expliquera en détail ce qui s'y est passé, puis vous laissera du temps libre pour prendre des photos, etc.

Principaux sites visités au cours de l'excursion :

Pointe du Hoc - vous écouterez l'histoire étonnante des Rangers américains qui ont dû escalader des falaises de près de 30,5 m de haut pour réduire au silence une batterie de tir longue portée allemande. Vous resterez bouche bée lorsque vous découvrirez les dommages laissés par la bataille et les bunkers allemands toujours en place dans ce site impressionnant.

Omaha Beach - c'est la plage la plus importante qui a été attaquée le jour du débarquement. Vous apprendrez de poignantes histoires de sacrifice, découvrirez les positions allemandes qui étaient presque impossibles à prendre, et entendrez les histoires de bravoure qui ont finalement permis aux États-Unis de l'emporter.

Pause déjeuner - incluse dans le prix de cette excursion. Vous pourrez déjeuner dans un restaurant typique près d'Omaha Beach.

Musée Overlord - inclus dans le prix de l'excursion. Vous vous arrêterez et disposerez d'un peu de temps libre pour visiter ce fabuleux musée qui regorge d'objets authentiques de la bataille de Normandie.

Cimetière américain de Normandie et Visitor Center - tout indiqué pour terminer l'excursion. Vous pourrez passer un moment au Visitor Center et parcourir les 70 hectares magnifiques du cimetière. Là, vous aurez la possibilité de rendre hommage aux nombreuses personnes dont vous aurez entendu parler lors de l'excursion.

À la fin, votre guide vous reconduira en véhicule à votre bateau de croisière à temps pour l'embarquement.

After a rocky start (tour guide/driver was late due to traffic issues), we headed off to see the American D-Day Beaches and cemetery. Our vehicle was a small bus (about 22 passengers)with two seats on one side of an aisle and one seat on the other. After spending almost 2 weeks touring on larger buses this was nice; however the seats continued to be very small and space for long legs at a premium! Driver was Jon and he knew his history! Came with stories to tell, pictures to show and short video clips. He worked very hard to keep us together and moving so that we could get to all of the sights included in tour. One young man failed to get back to the bus on the last stop for about 15 minutes late. This concerned Jon due to traffic that he knew we would hit and the fact that it would put him over his allotted time driving a bus on the road! No fault of his though. Tourists need to think of their guides/drivers and the constraints various agencies put on them in their businesses! American Cemetery was very quiet, peaceful, well landscaped and showed we take care of that area well. We saw miles of countryside and miles of beaches that were very involved in WWII. Having had a father in that war who was injured on D Day brought the significance of what he had gone through to a better understanding. Would have loved to have him still with me to share the experience. Very moving tour with a very knowledgeable driver/guide.

This tour was absolutely outstanding! Our guide originally from England made it one of the best days of our 12 day trip. He was extremely passionate and knowledgeable. The day was full, fast paced and very interesting. Wish we had had longer at each stop actually. Lunch was good and the size of the tour just right. The only thing I would mention is there is limited restroom stops later in the day. I highly recommend this tour and think every person should visit these locations at least once in their lifetime!

A full day of seeing the sites. Our guide, Aurelia, was very informative and knew lots of history about the places we visited. The one drawback is the long drive from the cruise port in Le Havre, plus we ran into traffic both ways. But even still, it was worth the time and money to see the sites and learn new things.

Lloyd was our guide/driver for this outstanding day in Normandy. He met us at the port and outlined our day in order to keep us on the necessary time schedule. His knowledge of Normandy and its battles was outstanding. We also liked the videos shown in the bus on the way to the site. We began our excursion at the Overlord Museum, continued to the Memorial Cemetery and Omaha Beach. We ended at Pointe du Hoc where German bunkers still exist. The trip was extremely informative and inspiring.
