Discover Alentejo: The trip starts right away when you travel the roads of the Alentejo region. Admire the beauty of Alentejo landscape with its vastness open rolling plains and view the rural architectural heritage clearly visible in the manor houses, picturesque vineyards, and whitewashed houses. Alentejo is a well-preserved region with a historical and cultural richness, excellent gastronomy, and products of renowned excellence such as wine, olive oil, and handcrafts that gives it a cultural identity and authenticity. This region is also recognized for the ‘Cante Alentejano’, a Portuguese music genre that was passed along by peasants throughout generations, while they were working in the Alentejo fields. This is one of two Portuguese music traditions part of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists, the other being Fado. Cante Alentejano is part of the strongest traditions of Alentejo, together with Alentejo cuisine and Alentejo wine. A taste of Evora: Follow the footsteps of the druids from Neolithic Period and visit the most important megalithic monument of the Iberian Peninsula and one of the most important in Europe, during this full day tour. The Almendres Cromlech is a mystic place with more than 7000 years and strolling around those historical stones is like going inside a time machine till the druids era and the communion with nature. After visiting the oldest Cromlech in south Europe, the tour continues to the capital of Alentejo - Évora. Find out what makes Evora such a fascinating city and discover its rich cultural heritage. Évora is one of the oldest European cities and it was classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Be amazed by the architecture and the whitewashed houses of the city, protected by the imposing walls that have been guarding the place practically unaltered throughout the centuries. You will find remains of Roman times, medieval buildings, and convents that are a testimony of the golden era of Portugal. Admire the Roman Temple, better known as Temple of Diana and a symbol of the city. You will also have the chance to visit one of the most popular monuments in Évora, the Chapel of Bones inside the famous Church of São Francisco. Have an experience out of this world and see a chapel totally cover with human bones and skulls. Being Alentejo the biggest olive-growing region of Portugal, the tour couldn’t finish without an Olive oil Tasting, one of the most traditional products used in the Portuguese Cuisine.
