Riverside Tour (Parque to Cais):

A perfect tour to discover the importance of Tagus river in Portuguese history. The biggest sailors started here their adventures across unknown seas, such as Vasco da Gama, on 15th century.

This ride start at Parque das Nações (futuristic district), Parque das Nações used to be an ugly industrial area until it was chosen as the site to host the last world fair of the 20th century, Expo 98. It has since been reborn into a futuristic glass-and-steel district, home to some wonderful examples of modern architecture, such as Pavilhão Atlântico, Oceanário and Oriente Station.

One of them is Oriente Station, a landmark with the signature of Santiago Calatrava, while Pritzker-award winning architect Alvaro Siza Vieira is the man behind the fantastic Pavilhão de Portugal known for its remarkable undulating roof. Many of the other constructions have an ocean theme (the twin towers São Gabriel and São Rafael resemble ships and are named after two of Vasco da Gama's vessels), and there is also one of the world's most spectacular aquariums nearby.

After Parque das Nações you can cross the most industrial Lisbon area, where nowadays you find a lot of places where the music and all cultural life are growing up. This tour is a balance between historic places and the new ones acrossing the old Lisbon industry zone Historically one of most importante points of this tour is Cais das Colunas and Terreiro do Paço. Cais das Colunas was the largest dock for embarcation and disembarcation for people and spices, making part of the famous spice route on the Discoveries, here was the starting point on the route of the Age of Discovery.

In Terreiro do Paço is possible to see where the last portuguese king gave his last steps before being assassinated and you finish this tour at Cais do Sodré near Praça do Comércio (City Historical Center), na important and bohemian neighborhood that connects everyone into the city.
