The Hermitage is located in the very center of St. Petersburg, and every guest of the city should visit it at least once. Primarily, the Hermitage was the winter residence of the Russian emperors, starting with the Empress Catherine II 'the Great', which laid the foundation of The Hermitage Collection. On this tour you’ll be able to replenish the stock of knowledge about Russian history and learn even more interesting historical facts.

During a sightseeing tour of the Hermitage you will explore the main halls of the Winter Palace, the main Russian imperial residence. The tour starts on the famous Jordan Staircase and the will first pass through the halls of the Neva enfilade, previously used for official ceremonies and celebrations.

Later you will see the Malachite and Pavilion halls, the decoration of St. George's and Throne Halls, the Heroes of 1812 Gallery, the Raphael loggia, the Leonardo hall, the Majolica room with two Raphael masterpieces, the majestic Stamp Hall, the Ancient Painting Hall, the Nicholas Hall, striking in its dimensions.

Your guide will describe you the decoration and origin history of the most famous architectural masterpieces. You will definitely appreciate the collections of Western European paintings, unequaled in the world.

You will certainly be amazed by the interiors of the museum and the exhibits representing the history of the whole world. You will learn how the Hermitage collections were formed, and which exhibits are of particular value.

The tour ends in the Hermitage and will be able see even more halls and rooms by yourself.

Although tickets are pre-booked with skip-the-line entrance there may still be a slight delay (10-15 minutes) in entering the museum during busy periods (May-August)
