We had a great day with Brooke, our guide. She did a great job. Told us a lot. We were thrilled to see both a moose and a bear, even though she said that was unusual to see both. Lunch was excellent. Brooke knew when to stop at the special signs (Welcome to Alaska and Welcome to the Yukon) to avoid the crowds and to get the clearest view. Highly recommend this tour!!!

This tour is beautiful and very informative about the history of the area. Andy was great! There are many stops for photo opportunities. The lunch was good. Our one disappointment was the dog sled pups- our kids were really interested in interacting with them. I even called Viator to make sure they could on this tour, willing to change tours if needed, but was told yes. Once there only folks that bought the dog sled ride were able to interact with the pups. At least they got to pet one pup, but not what we were lead to expect.

Our guide John was both knowledgeable and entertaining. The mini bus stops were beautiful and informative and gave us chances to stretch our legs. Lunch was provided at the Caribou Crossing. It was tasty, and the fun part was sitting in a covered wagon to eat it. After lunch we had time to feed and pet the goats, llamas, and horses which was very cool since they were gentle and appreciated the food. A very memorable trip. Don't miss it.

It was an excellent tour with Jessie driving and guiding us along the South Klondike Highway. She worked as a children’s activity officer on the HAL Vollendam (which was also in port at the same time) but fell in love with Skagway and has been living and working there for the past 9 years. She gave us a background of the township of Skagway, who lives there, its main industry (tourism and cruise ships) and how this has helped the town so much. The town operates most of the year except between the months of October to April when it is very cold (-20 F sometimes). She outlined the history of the Chilkoot trail, and the gold rush into the Klondike in the late 1890’s. It was an arduous venture just to get to the gold mining area, and really it only lasted a few years before it all petered out. The Royal Canadian Mounties inspected each potential miner’s load to see if he had enough food and clothing and other essentials to last the very cold winters in the Yukon – you needed 1 ton of equipment and stores before you were allowed to continue on up the Yukon. However, it spawned the establishment of the White Pass and Yukon Railroad (narrow gauge and with some steep gradients), running alongside the original (and rather treacherous) trail used by prospective miners on their way to the Yukon and today’s tourist industry. Our tour took us past most spectacular mountains, large lakes, a variety of vegetation types (including tundra, aspen and boreal forests) up to Emerald Lake. This has a deep emerald colour probably due to the glacier ‘flour’, and then back to Caribou Crossing for our BBQ lunch, visit to a museum of local wildlife (pre-historic to today) and a husky sled dog training activity. These dogs are training for Iditarod 1,000-mile race from middle to northern Alaska. This was most interesting, and we saw them in action. On our way back we stopped at the Carcross ‘desert” so named for the sand dunes left by the glaciers and used as a goal for those going to the Yukon before getting onto a boat up the Yukon river (when it was free of ice). We crossed the border twice – once from US to Canada and vice versa. It was very informative tour and put the whole Yukon story into context (especially when compared with the Australian gold rush in the mid 19th Century).

I booked this tour as a cruise ship excursion and was very happy that I did. We debated whether to take the train through the White Pass or to do something like this. I’m so glad I picked this one. Our guide Jessica made the tour for sure. She was so down to earth and funny, she was entertaining and full of interesting stories and facts. We definitely feel like we caught a glimpse of what it’s like to live there now and what it must have been like in past days like the gold rush. Jessica definitely made this tour amazing!

We chose to take a coach along the same route as the popular train ride to the Yukon. Comparing notes, our fellow travelers who took the train were jealous of our many stops for great photo opportunities including 3 Dahl sheep being stalked by a grizzly bear, petting puppies of mushers and filling our water bottles with glacier runoff coming down a waterfall. Great way to see White pass.

This was our first trip to the Yukon Territory and our third trip to Alaska. The full-day tour was great from start to finish. Our driver and guide, Max, was very well-informed about the sites in the region. He explained the very difficult journey of the Klondike Goldrush miners as the tour followed the trail that they followed. We entered Canada and saw Dahl Sheep, Mountain Goats and a Cinnamon Black Bear! We visited Carcross and had a great lunch at an Alaskan Husky sled dog training center where we were allowed to interact with the new pups and watch the dogs train. They also had a wonderful museum and petting zoo. We then went to gorgeous Emerald Lake. What a stunning spot. We saw a magnificent glacier in the Stikine Region on the way back to Skagway. Gorgeous! Although the journey is a full-day, it was worth the time to see this rugged and gorgeous region of the Northwest. We arrived back to the ship and had about an hour to spend in lovely Skagway before returning to the ship. I would do this excursion again!

Very nice excursion. Minibus, so faster get on/off and even got to turn around for the bear on the road. Brooke did great job. My teenage kids reffed to this as the best excursion of the trip.

Patrick is a great guide, very knowledgeable about history of Skagway and White Pass/Yukon area. Excellent driving and sense of humor. We have done multiple stops to take great pictures, so we can bring home tons of memories. The tour worth every penny we paid! We're so glad we choose Viator for this tour.

This was an EXCELLENT tour. Our tour guide, Tyler, was lively, extremely knowledgeable, personable and funny. The 1 reason I chose this tour over the White Pass railroad were the number of reviews that lamented the fact that you couldnt get out at all. We had a climate-controlled minibus with only 21 people. Compare that with the NCL Pearl excursions that were considerably more expensive and left in mega-buses that were 100-200 people deep each. The drive out to the Yukon was absolutely gorgeous. You pass through Alaska stopping to take photos at the Welcome to Alaska sign, British Columbia and the Yukon also taking photos at the sign. We were able to stop and get out to take photos at various locations. We saw mountain goat as well as an eagle extremely close to the road and raven. We went everywhere as described. In addition, though I didnt take the sled dog ride as it was on a wheeled vehicle instead of a sled due to the lack of snow I was able to pet the puppies. In addition, we stopped and drank some glacier run off water from Bridal falls only 3 of us dared and stopped at the actual Carcross town as we had extra time and got our passports stamped. I would advise that at Caribou Crossing where the dog sled adventure and lunch is that you go to the Taxidermy museum and exit through the rear door. There you can pet and for only 1 a bag feed a pure black stallion, mini-horses, donkey, alpaca and/or goats. Highly recommend.

Great bus tour of Yukon with multiple stops. Incredibly scenic. Dog Sled/Iditarod training was worth the visit! Bus driver was a great tour guide.

Our driver Patrick met us in the parking lot right after the cruise ship pier, and he quickly seated everyone in our relatively small minibus (I think we had about 15 people). He drove through Skagway, pointing out some highlights along the way (to be honest, not many in the city), and then we were on our way north. The tour description is exactly correct: lots of scenic photo stops along the Klondike highway route, gorgeous green Emerald Lake, Tutshi, Tagish and Bennett Lakes, unique Carcross desert, and so on. We had a lovely day - sunny and no rain. Unfortunately, we did not see much wildlife, but the varied landscapes, in both Alaska and the Yukon region of Canada, more than made up for this. Patrick pointed out highlights along the way, and he kept us amused and entertained. One nice personal touch that he provided: At several scenic spots (for example, the Welcome to Alaska sign), Patrick took photographs of each couple or group of travelers. So why take the bus and not the train? The minibus stopped many times along the route, both on the way up to Carcross and on the way down,, for photo opportunities. When we got back to the cruise ship later that day, we spoke to those who had taken one or another train alternative (there seemed to be many possible train choices), and they were all envious of our trip. The train ride may be a bit more scenic (and historic), but we had many more chances than they did to get out see the countryside.

We absolutely loved this trip. Tyler (T-Bone) was our guide, and Nathan was his assist. We enjoyed every second. Tyler was a 10 star guide, and was fun, informative, and extremely accommodating to my 82 year old father, who is somewhat limited in his mobility. I am incredibly grateful both for that, and for the experience. So happy we took the bus route which allowed us to get off. The sled dog experience, which Tyler insisted my father take part in and helped him to do, was so enjoyable! Tyler, if you are reading this, thank you SO MUCH, and a gift package from NH will be on the way. Thank you to Frontier!!

A really good day led by our wonderful guide who was relaxed and informative. We had numerous photo stops, and the highlight was seeing a bear and her 2 cubs. Lunch was fine, but the beautiful scenery was amazing
